Free Breakfast and Lunch During School Closure

Free Lunch Clipart

As a district it is important to provide as many services as we can while we are closed.  One of our most critical services that we provide as a school district is serving breakfast and lunch to students.  The State of Michigan is working with school districts to provide free breakfast and lunch for school age children while schools are closed. Executive Order No. 2020-21 allows for exemptions to the “stay at home” order “to obtain necessary services or supplies for themselves, their family or household members, and their vehicles. As needed, however, individuals may leave the home or place of residence to purchase groceries, take-out food, gasoline, needed medical supplies, and any other products necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and basic operation of their residences.”

Portland Public Schools is excited to announce that while we are shutdown for COVID-19 we will provide two meals a day to ALL school aged children.  If your family is in need of meals, please take advantage of this service. Traditionally this service is offered to Free and Reduced students only. Because of the nature of our closure, the guidelines have been changed in order to allow us to qualify all students regardless of economic status.

To assist our food service department in providing this service please take our survey at  This will help us gauge the level of service needed.  You only need to fill out the survey once. If you need to change your pickup/delivery status please retake the survey.

Please share this information with anyone who may need this service.
